  • Archconfraternity of St. Catherine of Siena

The pectoral medallion depicts “Christ communicating Catherine” - in an oval that contains, in the frame, the inscription, in large letters: “ARCHICONFRAT. S. CATHARINAE DE SENIS ”- and is the effigy of the Archconfraternity of S. Caterina da Siena in Via Giulia in Rome.

In the black and white image - the traditional colors of the City of Siena - the head of Christ, wrapped in his mantle, spreads the infinite rays of his holiness to the ecstatic face of the Saint who receives the Host, with her hands open. in the welcome of her divine Spouse and in the offering of oneself: in the end, the whole oval remains of that radiant energy.

The logo - evidently inspired by the canvas "Catherine communicated by Christ", by the Avignon painter Etienne Parrocel, which can be admired in the Church of the Archconfraternity, in the space between the two chapels on the right - opened the "Summary of Indulgences, Graces and Privileges granted in perpetual from the Supreme Pontiffs to the Brothers and Sisters of the Veneranda Arciconfraternita di S. Caterina da Siena in Via Giulia ", appeared in a sort of manifesto of 1855. And it is shown, in color, on the Banner adopted by the Pio Sodalizio since 1928, based on a sketch by Sienese sculptor Arturo Viligiardi.
