The Oval Medallion, represents Our Lady of Sorrows pierced by a sword in the heart with an inscription that frames her VIRGO DOLOROSA ORA PRONOBIS (Our Lady of Sorrows, pray for us).
Over the years, the Medallion has been remodeled and has become round in shape, always depicting Our Lady of Sorrows, pierced by a sword in the heart; however, as you can see, the writing no longer appears.
