Brief description of the work and author's profile: The seventeenth-century image belongs to the group of the 4 Sorrowful Mysteries which represent the original nucleus of the procession of the Mysteries, organized by the Arciconfraternita starting from 1714. The figure, with a face framed with thorns, stripped and facing downwards, he stands, under the Cross, wrapped in the heavy bloody fabric of his tunic. The dense folds of the fabric accentuate the verticality of the sculpture which, in the pose that is not at all disheveled, seems not to be affected at all by the weight of the cross.
